Hope-for-Young Australians
Hope.
At the end of my year on YMT (2021 in case you’re interested) my Team ran an Encounter Night. The crux of the night was a reflection on our identity. For context, we spoke about how names in the bible have great importance and when someone encounters God in a new way it often comes with a name change that better captures their identity or purpose – think Simon to Peter (meaning the rock) or Abram to Abraham (Father of many).

Freedom in Lockdown
The world as we know it has changed within these past 18 months. Lockdown is a familiar experience for all. I’ll be honest, we had a snap 5-day lockdown at the start of the year, and I definitely could have handled it better. I was fully convinced our YMT year was over

Hope
When I was growing, for a number of years we’d always go to the Christmas Midnight Mass. Hundreds of people would cram into that 19th century Church, the stale air radiating the remnant of a blistering Campbelltown summer’s day. It wasn’t until later in my teenage years that I started to notice this sneaky little voice in the back of my head that filled me with fear, guilt and discouragement. This voice was so familiar that I had never consciously tuned into it and noticed how much it was restricting me.

INTENTIONALITY IN ISOLATION
When I first returned home after COVID-19 hit, I was determined to make the best of the situation, and to enjoy the extra time I now had to rediscover old friends and hobbies that I’d somewhat neglected during the hectic ups and downs of Team life. I spent several days immersed in books, anime, phone calls, siblings, creative projects and memes before I finally stepped back and realised that I was feeling consistently frustrated, confused and
